Is Faith Misused Or Not Understood?

I think “faith”; in many cases is misused or not understood. Faith is a gift from God. I have heard it said, everyday things we do are done in faith. The act of opening a door is done in faith. We push knowing it will open. Well; we have all walked into a door that said “pull” instead of “push“ (or have seen it done.) If we had faith; the door would have opened even if it said “pull” and we pushed. It would have opened if it was locked.

We must remember faith is a gift from God. We know there is a God. No matter what anyone says; we know. We also know Jesus is the Christ. These are gifts of faith, gifts from God. If you have a testimony by faith that Joseph Smith was a profit; that the Book of Mormon is true and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church you have been given a gift from God. Not all people know these things. I didn’t say not all people believe these things. I said not all people know these things. That is a gift from God.

The rest is belief. Believe all things spoken by the prophets.

Although faith is a gift, it must be cultured and sought after until it grows from a tiny seed to a great tree. The effects of true faith in Jesus Christ include an actual knowledge that the course of life one is pursuing is acceptable to the Lord (see Heb. 11: 4); a reception of the blessings of the Lord that are available to man in this life; and an assurance of personal salvation in the world to come. These things involve individual and personal testimony, guidance, revelation, and spiritual knowledge. Where there is true faith there are miracles, visions, dreams, healings, and all the gifts of God that he gives to his saints. Jesus pointed out some obstacles to faith in John 5: 44 and John 12: 39-42 (James 1: 6-8).

I agree that faith can be a gift from God, but I also think is a verb: it causes us to act in godly ways.
